We are delighted to announce that the team who brought you A Midsummer Night’s Dream in 2024 is reforming to produce this year’s Shakespeare on the Green: Twelfth Night.

Twelfth Night, Shakespeare’s masterpiece of misrule, music, and mistaken identity, follows twins Sebastian and Viola, who are separated in a terrible shipwreck. Rescued by a sea captain, Viola disguises herself as a man to seek employment with the dashing but lovestruck Count Orsino. As “Cesario,” she is sent to deliver messages of love to Countess Olivia, only for Olivia to fall for Cesario instead.

Meanwhile, Olivia’s uncle, the boisterous bon viveur Sir Toby Belch, is encouraging the wealthy-but-hapless Sir Andrew Aguecheek to woo Olivia, while happily helping him spend his fortune on wine and song in the company of wily Feste, the court fool, all under the disapproving glare of Olivia’s puritanical steward, Malvolio.

How will the chaos resolve, and what became of Sebastian? All will be revealed on the Mill Green from 10th to 13th June.

Directors Peter Hughes and Linda Daman will present their vision for the show in the Green Room (top floor of the Woodclyffe Hostel, above Wargrave Library) at 7pm on Sunday 22nd February. All are welcome to come along and get a flavour of the production.

Open auditions will be held on Thursday 26th February at 8pm, with a secondary audition on Sunday 1st March if required.
